Ed Nuccilli and the Plural Circle Big Band Jazz Orchestra

Ed Nuccilli and the Plural Circle Big Band Jazz Orchestra

Ed Nuccilli developed the Plural Circle in the early 1970’s and the band has been evolving ever since. Plural Circle is an 18 piece big band comprised of piano, acoustic bass, drums, 5 standard saxophones, 6 trumpets and 4 trombones, which makes for a full orchestra sound; rich in harmonies.

Ed Nuccilli conducts the band, plays trumpet and trumpet solos. He also writes all the arrangements for the band. Ed Nuccilli is highly respected, and known for his arranging, which consist of his extensive ‘original’ library and hundreds of tunes by jazz greats like the compositions of  Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Horace Silver, Charles Mingus and Duke Ellington, to name a few.

The Plural Circle Orchestra is unique because of Ed’s concept of the big band: the big band is an extension of the small band, such as a symphony orchestra is an extension of a chamber orchestra. The charts are sophisticated and complex, and challenging to even the seasoned musician, but the music is deep, and Jazz lovers and the every day listener admire the music of Ed Nuccilli & Plural Circle. Ed assembles Detroit’s finest musicians and Plural Circle can be heard at jazz venues around the Detroit area.
